Urgent eFiling – Enhancements to the Tax Type Transfer Coming end April 2021

In the upcoming month, SARS will extend the process of tax products and for all entities transacting on eFiling.

Towards the end of April 2021, SARS will introduce the following key changes on eFiling:

  • Adding taxpayers to a profile (Organisations & Practitioners), thus to Validate captured information to ensure alignment with SARS records.
  • Activating and Requesting Tax Types (All products and return types), thus confirmation of the Registered Representatives/Public Officer.
  • Tax Type Requests to be reviewed by the taxpayer or their appointed Registered Representative, thus Authentication layer with One-Time-Pin (cell and email)

Very important: If your profile is still active on the old eFiling system, please ensure immediate action on or before 10 March 2021 to update your Security Contact Details (SCD), in order for your profile to be migrated to the new eFiling system.

How to update the Security Contact Details (SCD)

  • Login to the eFiling profile that is associated to your Personal Income Tax
  • Select “User” or “Organisation” (Depending on the eFiling Profile: Individual or Organisation/ Practitioner)
  • Select “SARS Registered Details”
  • Select “Maintain SARS Registered Details”>”Agree”>”Continue”>”Proceed”
  • Once the form is displayed, Select “My eFiling Security Details”
  • Check if email and cell phone number are correct, if not, update the necessary details
  • Select “File” on the top right

NOTE: The update will take effect after 24 hours. On your next login, you will be prompted to select a Primary Username.

Furthermore, any transfer requests to access taxpayer profiles, will now require the taxpayer or their appointed Registered Representative to approve or reject such requests so it’s of ultimate importance that you take action.

You are more than welcome to contact Nwanda if you unclear or unsure how this will impact your processing on efiling.
